Kochi: Phase-I (13 km) of the much awaited Kochi Metro Rail project is expected to be fully compelte by December 2015 and the remaining 12 km by March 2016, confirmed the state’s Power and Transport Minister, Aryadan Muhammed.
The minister disclosed the updates over the construction works after the detailed meeting with officials from the Kochi Metro Rail Ltd. Issues involving widening of the Thammanam-Pullepady road and the Vyttila-Petta road were also discussed to ensure greater road traffic mobility. Besides, focus was also shed upon the land acquisition issues.
As per the official disclosure of the 40 hecaters required for implementing the project, the government has already over 18 hectares to the executioner KMRL. As per the district administration officials, proceedings over the total land acquisition process will be fully complete by this August. The meeting also discussed upon the allotment of 11 parcels of government land which needs to handed over for project construction and the proceedings to fast-track the proposals to ensure land availability for KMRL has also been finalized.
