Haryana discoms losses rose up to Rs. 29,362 crore

Transport Minister, Krishan Lal Panwar informed the Haryana Assembly that the discoms losses in the state which was Rs. 1,360 crore in 2005 has rose up to Rs. 29,362 crore in this financial year.

On behalf of the CM, he replied to the question raised by BJP.

He further added that the government had launched “Mhara Gaon Jagmag Gaon” scheme on 83 feeders spread over 90 constituencies of the state to make utilities profitable and to provide people uninterrupted 24-hour power supply.

Panwar further informed that all conductors which are more than 50 year old and old metres are being replaced without any fine.

Inspite of timely advices from the Haryana Power Regulatory Commission, the previous government allegedly failed to do increase the power tariff which is resulting in the increased losses of discoms.
He said, In 2001-02 power tariff was increased by 0.6 percent tariff rate was not increased from 2002-03 to 2009-10. It was increased by 11.87 per cent in 2011-12, 13.33 per cent in 2012-13, 11.48 per cent in 2013-14 and 15 per cent in 2014-15.

The government which raised tariff by 8.51 percent, is committed to provide 24 hour supply to agriculture, industry and domestic use the minister stated.
