Delhi Transco Ltd (DTL), Indraprastha Power Generation Company (IPGCL) and Pragati Power Corporation (PPCL) has moved the Supreme court on Wednesday asking BSES power discoms to clear their electricity dues of over Rs. 6,833, payable since 2010. These companies are backed by reliance infra.

These  G&T companies claimed that both distribution company BSES Rajdhani Power (BRPL) and BSES Yamuna Power (BYPL) were directed by the Apex court last year on March 26, May 6 and July 3 to pay current charges of around 2,217.6 crore. Anil Ambani Group discoms feed 70 percent of power supply to Delhi, while the two state power-generating companies supply around 800 MW of power to BSES on daily basis.

Currently the matter has been adjourned till the next hearing. Meanwhile, a contempt application, moved by the generating and transmission companies against these discoms for disobeying the orders of the apex court, is still pending. Earlier, the SC had directed BYPL to pay the current dues of Rs. 161 Crore, against the alleged arrears of Rs. 410 crore for the period Jan to June 2104. The G& T firms said that these discoms have not paid the bill since 2010 and have been paying only ad hoc part payments.

BSES in the meantime is claiming that it was facing a difficult financial conditions as it has not been allowed to recover around 10000 crores, incurred due to low tariff rate and increased power purchase cost.
