State-run SAIL today said its sales increased by 7% in Feb to 1.04 mt on greater off-take from domestic and export markets.
The country’s biggest steel manufacturer had clocked sales of 0.974 million tonnes in the same month last year.
Production of sale-able steel in the reporting month also increased by 7% to 1.006 million tonnes from 0.94 MT a year ago
“For the accumulative 11-month interval, SAIL’s concerted attempt in improving domestic sales as well as exports paid off as these increased by 8% & 33% respectively,” Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) said in declaration.
Cumulative product sales for the period of the April-Feb interval increased to 10.877 million tonnes from 10.068 MT in the corresponding interval the year before. Exports increased to 0.427 million tonnes from 0.320 million tonnes a year ago.
“Compatible development in sales over the last few months has given us the confidence of reporting a better outcome in the coming months, which will further pick-up with the probable strengthening up of the market,” SAIL Chairman C S Verma said.
