Chandigarh: Outlining a capital outlay of Rs2,500 – Rs3,000 crore, the Punjab government allotted projects to 26 private players for developing a 250 MW solar power units. The players who are outlined by the players involves Lanco Solar Energy, Moser Baer Clean Energy, Essel Infra Projects, Asopus Infrastructure, Welspun Solar Punjab, Punj Lloyd Infrastructure and Azure Urja.
Besides, the state government also aims to explore the potentials from the prevalent renewable reserves. Commenting on these initiatives, Sukhbir Singh Badal, Punjab’s Deputy Chief Minister said, “We have set a target to generate at least 1,000 MW power from renewable sources like solar, biomass, co-generation, mini-hydle and solar roof tops in the next four years.”
Apart from these, the state government also plans to allot 300 MW biomass power plants and maega Solar Park for promoting clean and green energy. “The allocation of 250 MW solar power projects is a step towards sustainable development,” said Anirudh Tiwari, Secretary, Power & Non-Conventional Energy.
