Ennore Port Ltd (EPL) and Bay of Bengal Gateway Terminals Pvt Ltd have signed a concession agreement for the construction and development of a container terminal at the Port on a build, operate and transfer (BOT) basis The concession agreement is for 30 years. Ore traffic at Major Ports sinks by 74%
Fall in Chinese demand has affected the iron ore traffic during April – July period. The major ports recorded a 74% drop in iron ore traffic; also Karnataka’s ban on ore exports with effect from July 26 following rampant illegal mining of the resource supported the slump. During the four months of this financial year, NMPT handled 800,000 tonnes of iron ore, compared to 3.1 million tonnes during the year-ago period.
