New Delhi: To solve connectivity problem related to coal supply, government intends to focus on 2-3 large rail projects, informed Anil Swarup, Additional Secretary and Chairman of Project Monitoring Group (PMG).
Environment and forest clearance has been sanctioned for two projects located in Odhisha and Chhattisgarh, informs Swarup adding, “Out of these two, I think work has started on one project.”
Besides, PMG so far has outlined 467 projects for clearance on its portal from various sectors like power, coal, steel and road totaling investments of about Rs23 lakh crore.
“Till this morning, 467 projects are on the portal entailing an investment of about Rs23 lakh crore. Out of these, in 57 we came to the conclusion that we can’t take any action,” he added, citing the example of coal blocks where Supreme Court has given verdict for cancellation.
Moreover, PMG has facilitated clearance for around 180 projects to the tune of Rs6.5 lakh crore. “We still have about 220 projects with an investment of about Rs11 lakh crore. These projects are related to sectors such as power, coal, steel, aluminum, road and transmission,” he added.
